The holidays are here! And that means it’s time for the world’s most famous punchline: A Christmas extravaganza starring the Radio City Rockettes.

It is this year A Christmas extravaganza starring the Radio City Rockettes, presented by QVC, debuted Nov. 18 at Radio City Music Hall and will run through Jan. 2, 2023. The 84 Rockettes aren’t just wild dancers, they’re multitasking prodigies who sometimes hold down careers outside of the holiday season. In fact, the company is made up of accountants, nurses and students.

The Rockettes even have a set of identical twins on the offensive line. “Being a Rockette with my twin sister Sarah is a gift we don’t take for granted. I am forever grateful for this opportunity and the opportunity to share this sisterhood with my twin sister,” says Katie Daniel of their fourth season with the Rockettes. “I love seeing how we both grow and learn every year. We moved to New York at the age of 18 to pursue this lifelong dream we shared, and I’m happy to say we did it… together.”
The 2022 Christmas Spectacle also features the “Dance of the Ice Fairies”, which transforms Radio City into a winter fairy tale. The new number features the Rockettes as winged fairies along with fairy-tale drones flying above the audience.
In addition, there are classic pieces that keep audiences coming back year after year. “We’re sticking to timeless traditions that audiences love and adore, like the Wooden Soldier Parade, which has been on since 1933,” says Daniel. “There’s no place in the world like Radio City during the holidays and no show like it The Christmas spectacle.”
Who are the Radio City Rockettes?
Radio City Rockettes is made up of 84 strong, unique and talented women. Many of them have other jobs outside of the Christmas season. There are Rockettes who are students, mothers, teachers, nurses, coaches, accountants and more!
There are 18 brand new Rockettes this year, 17 of whom participated in the Rockettes Conservatory. The dance group’s free, invitation-only educational program offers intensive study in the exact style of the Rockettes. 18 women come from two countries (USA and Australia) and 11 different countries. There are Rockettes who are students, mothers, teachers, nurses, coaches, accountants and more!

They have about a month to learn the choreography and then two weeks in the theater to rehearse the technical elements. “Exercising is a grueling process that requires a lot of determination, focus, and focus,” says Rockette Katie Daniel. “We practice together all day and then we go home and practice alone and then we wake up and practice some more. Christmas is non-stop!”
