However, it is not a full-fledged four-day weekend for investors. Stock market is a open on Black Friday – at least for a while.
In 2022, the stock market will be closed all day for the Thanksgiving holiday. Meanwhile, on Friday, Nov. 25, more colloquially known as Black Friday, the stock market will open at 9:30 a.m. ET, ending trading on both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). early at 1:00 p.m. Remember that regular trading hours for the stock market are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Investors can expect a similar schedule for the bond market, which will be closed all day on Thanksgiving and open for a shortened session on Black Friday.

That’s because Congress voted in 2021 to make the June 19th holiday to commemorate the end of slavery — the 12th federal holiday. When President Joe Biden signed the law last year, June became the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day, signed by then-President Ronald Reagan in 1983.
