
A cute clip of a sausage dog relaxing in the sun has gone viral on TikTok with over 600,000 likes.
In a video posted by the Little Dachshund Club, the camera pans over five sun-kissed sausage dogs, with the caption reading: “Dachshunds are famous sun worshippers. Where there’s sun, there’s sausage.” .”
One user said: “My dachshund loves the sun, he drags his little paws around the yard to avoid the shadow, it’s only a few months he waits.”
Why do dogs love the sun?

Dogs love to sit in the sun for the same reason that humans do. It’s warm, it’s comfortable, it’s relaxing, so it makes the perfect place to take a nap. It is a natural and essential source of vitamin D for humans, but not for dogs, who, like cats, cannot produce vitamin D precursors in their skin.
Do dogs need sunscreen?
Humans need sunscreen if we’re going to be out in the sun for long periods of time, but do dogs? The American Kennel Club (AKC) says yes. “Like people, dogs are prone to sunburn and other problems and diseases related to sun exposure. Can dogs get heatstroke?
Heatstroke is one of the worst heat-related illnesses. It happens when it can no longer regulate its temperature and cannot cool down.
The Dachshund Station website says that although dachshunds will struggle to withstand the sun, it is important to watch how long they stay there to avoid overheating or sunburn.
